Dates, sites are set for fall’s Fort Lauderdale Boat Show
The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) is adding another location and other first-time offerings this year as part of efforts to improve the event year after year, organizers announced Monday.
The Pier 66 Marina along Southeast 17th Street in Fort Lauderdale will be the seventh site for the 55th annual boating event, which will run Oct. 30-Nov. 3 across six other city locations.
The 2014 show will have nearly $4 billion worth of boats, yachts and marine accessories on display across more than 3 million square feet of exhibit space, Fort Lauderdale-based Show Management said.
The Pier 66 marina — currently undergoing upgrades to its docks and slips — will feature a display of brokerage or pre-owned yachts. Its addition also brings access to dining options such as the casual Pelican Landing restaurant and the upscale Grille 66 & Bar, the show’s producer and manager said.
Also new this year will be a pop-up restaurant operated by Hugh’s Culinary at the Hall of Fame Marina show site, and the IGFA Sportfishing Lounge inside the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center. The lounge will offer comfortable seating and drink service.
“This year we have more exhibit space than ever before, further-improved navigational aids and additional dining options all designed to ensure that FLIBS remains the center of the yachting world,” Show Management CEO Efrem “Skip” Zimbalist III said in a statement.
Thursday’s ‘Prime Time Preview’ adult tickets cost $38 online or $40 on site, while general admission tickets Friday through Monday are $22 and $24 respectively. Tickets for children aged 6 to 15 are $7-$9. Kids under 6 are free.
