New Navy Fighter Jet Joins Fort Lauderdale Air Show
A U.S. Navy fighter jet has joined this year’s Fort Lauderdale Air Show lineup, the fourth branch of the military to be participating in the May 7-8 performances.
A single-seat F/A-18 Hornet first-strike fighter will be featured along with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, a U.S. Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier hovering fighter jet, a U.S. Coast Guard search-and-rescue crew and Canadian Air Force and private jet teams.
The air show is coming at the end of another military appreciation event, Fleet Week at Port Everglades, that runs May 2-9. Fleet Week has announced the USS California will be the nuclear submarine participating in the event. In addition, the destroyer USS Bainbridge is replacing the destroyer USS Farragut.
The deadline has passed for reserving tours of the Fleet Week vessels, which will also include the USS Bataan amphibious assault ship, the destroyer USS Cole and the Coast Guard Cutter Robert Yered.
