Greater Fort Lauderdale is a very large area which covers almost all of Broward County. The entire western area is a patchwork of small cities, wide swaths of farmland, ranches and newer gated developments, commercial and residential areas, some small man-made lakes, golf courses - and good community feelings. As we move eastward toward the coastline, you can see a skyline dominated by high rise condominiums, hotels and office buildings. The downtown city of Fort Lauderdale with its charming boutiques and both fine and casual restaurants is a magnet for this greater Fort Lauderdale area. The peaceful Riverwalk follows the contours of the New River and leads to The Theater of the Performing Arts. Beyond that, the start of all the residential waterfront islands from Hollywood north to Deerfield Beach also follow along the Atlantic Ocean coastline.
There are magnificent homes in many of the subdivisions but there are also many areas with more modest homes too. The entire area is a microcosm of the state of Florida - tropical beauty that has been or is being developed.
