After World War II, there was robust growth like most of southeast Florida and Pompano Beach now boasts about 100,000 residents. It is very close to everything, centrally located between Palm Beach and Miami, it is often called "The Heart of the Gold Coast". Good boating, fishing, scuba diving, and snorkeling on its offshore coral reef. You will find a lot of activity along the 1,000' long municipal fishing pier, lots of parks and good shopping. It even has its own Christmas Boat Parade, usually just after the big one in Fort Lauderdale. a seafood festival in April, and a fishing rodeo in May.
